This is the MegaView ordering form for Digi-Key. It will allow you to assemble the MegaView with just a printed circuit board (PCB) and programmed processor from the group buy. Note that some additional parts will be required, as noted near the bottom of the form.
Change any quantities to the numbers you want, and click the button to send your order to Digi-Key. If the default quantities are used, the price for a 'MegaView parts kit' should be $89.26, as of Dec. 2005.
Quantities are as required for MegaView , except where minimum order quantities are required. In these cases, the minimum is ordered, with the required quantity in (brackets).
To order complete the following steps:
Verify that you have the quantities you want for each item below.
Then send your order to Digi-Key:
(Go to Ordering Homepage and "CREATE NEW ORDER" if you want to start over with an order after you have submitted it.)
You will be redirected to Digi-Key to verify your order, payment method, and shipping details.
If you are not ordering any components for the relay board (and have already ordered for the MegaSquirt® EFI Controller, if desired), then finalize your order by clicking on the 'finish order' button on the Digi-Key site and following the instructions there.
If you are also purchasing parts for the relay board, return to the MegaSquirt ordering page without finalizing your order.
4 Momentary Push-Buttons - for example Radio Shack 275-1556A Mini Momentary Push-Button Switch - comes in a pack of two (one red one black cap) for about $3.
1 Bezel - instructions for fabrication are on the MegaView site.
Parts for cable to connect push buttons to the PCB. You may be able to scrounge a connector for the pushbutton header JH1 from an old computer, they often used in 2 position configurations for micro-switches, indicator LEDs, etc. Otherwise you can get a connector from a local electronics shop.
Nylon Screws - 4/40 - H546-ND - 0.0910ea. & Nylon Nuts - 4/40 - H616-ND - 0.105ea. You need 5 of each, but there is a 100 minimum quantity for each from Digi-Key. You can try to find them locally. Look for them in hobby shops that sell radio control hardware. You CAN substitute steel screw hardware. Just be careful to make sure the metal screws do not short anything out.
If you are new to electronics assembly, you may want to solder in a socket for the MAX232 chip. The kit includes a socket for the 40-pin CPU. To socket the other chip you will need: AE7216-ND ($0.72) for the MAX232 (V2). The sockets allow you to correct your mistake if you install an IC backwards, and also prevent to much heat from transferring to the IC while soldering.
